I think the Brits have caught on and created their very own Burning Man. Bestival is by far England’s best music festival to date, and a it’s a perfect destination for gypsetters. Bestival is a four-day boutique music festival that takes place every September, but it will keep you dancing year round.
The festival takes place at Robin Hill Adventure Park and Gardens (an 88-acre theme park with lots of gardens) near Downend and Newport, in the heart of the beautiful Isle of Wight. Festival events also take place on the grounds for the Lulworth Castle, a 17th-century mock castle that is now open as museum. The grand finale is projected onto the castle at the end of the festival.
The line up is an eclectic mix of artists like Snoop Dog, Elton John, M.I.A., and The Flaming Lips, jut to name a few. There are many other things to do besides listen to music at Bestival! If you venture into the Ambient Forest late at night, you can watch live scores, cult classics, documentaries and short films set up in the amphitheater. It’s fun to watch full length movies tucked away in the forest under the stars with your friends to take a break from all the Bestival madness.
There is also the Hidden Disco which has recently returned to the Bestival activities. The location of the disco is a secret, so it will take some effort to discover this treasure!
