Honeysuckle, glorious, somewhere, somehow–maybe if we just meet at the pool at midnight–there will be a place in the sun for all of us again. (Poolside with Slim Aaron’s, 2007)
As the days warm up, our time in the water goes later and later into the night; and I thumb through my coffee table book Poolside with Slim Aarons– it brings me back to the many beautiful pools I’ve had the opportunity to swim in throughout my travels.
In this book, the influential magazine photographer highlights the jet-set lifestyle (Aarons coined the phrase jet-set) that accompanies some of the world’s most beautiful pools. He perfectly characterizes the lifestyle that played out poolside in places like the eternally decadent Monaco and incomparably gorgeous Mediterranean coasts (and many more). As captured below, in the iconic photo he took poolside at Hotel du Cap of Catherine Wilke and the girls in the late 70s, you get the idea. đ
While turning the pages and absorbing the vibe of these bygone days, I was inspired to share some of the best hotel pools around the world (a few of which are featured in the book) that I’ve swum in clothed (and at times with nothing on at all!). I’ve also included a few that I hope to swim in on my coming journeys. đ
Which are your faves? I’d love to know!
