When I traveled to the Dolomites last month with my friend Luca for Gypset Girl, I was super excited to return to my good friend Stefan’s hotel Hotel Cavallino d’Oro— it’s GORGEOUS! It’s everything you would expect it to be in this Northern Italian medieval village, almost suspended in time and nestled up against the Austrian border. This beautiful hotel (the building is over 700 years old!) is located right in the middle of the historic Castelrotto Square.
Besides the unbelievably gorgeous natural scenery and the welcoming hospitality of the Castelrotto locals, you can’t help but be drawn to impressiveness of the bell tower that stands tall and proud in the town square. The iconic bell tower is a relic from the original church in the town, which was burned in 1753. The bell tower was quickly rebuilt, but the church that is used today was not built until a century later (it is located right next to the original church site).
During your stay, you can enjoy a majestic view of the nearby mountains– where you can go hiking in the Alpe di Siusi or Val Gardena or skiing at the world-famous Dolomiti Superski. Other outdoor activities include biking, mountain biking, swimming, golf, tennis, and more! As you can see from the photos, clearly at any time of year, nothing beats the majesty of this place.
All of the rooms at the Hotel Cavallino d’Oro are unique and beautifully decorated. Each room has its own private bathroom with a tub/shower. If you need some relaxation after a tough day of outdoor sports or a lovely sleigh ride in the crisp mountain air (the hotel is happy to arrange this for you), you can enjoy the Roman steam bath or sauna or opt for a massage!
Before you head out in the morning, take advantage of the breakfast buffet served until 11 a.m. For more information on the hotel and booking a stay there, click HERE. Don’t forget to mention when booking that you read about the Hotel Cavallino d”Oro on Gypset Girl to receive a 5% discount on your stay!
Check out the photos and out-takes from the shoot we did in Castelrotto for the amazing ski and après-ski wear line Alp-n-Rock, for which I am brand ambassador. 🙂
