When you find yourself in Singapore, The Wanderlust Hotel is a must. Perfectly described by its creators, the Wanderlust is “a left-field and totally experimental boutique hotel set to draw madcap voyagers and curious travelers to its doorstep.”
The Wanderlust is a boho boutique hotel located in the Little India section of the city (near Sim Lim Square). It’s eclectic–definitely not your typical boutique hotel! There are 29 rooms housed in this former 1920s school. The contemporary design of the hotel is evident in its 4 levels, each with its own theme. The first floor (lobby level) is titled Industrial Glam, and it was designed by Asylum. On the lobby level, you will find a fantastic collection of vintage chairs in which to relax after your travels. The second level is Eccentricity, designed by phunk Studio. The third level is “Is It Just Black or White?” by DP Architects. Last is level four– Creature Comforts, designed by iFurious.
There are five different room categories at the Wanderlust Hotel: Pantone, Pantone Deluxe, Mono, Mono Deluxe, and Whimsical. There are 10 different pantone rooms, appropriately named because they are each a different pantone color. The rooms are sort of like cozy little capsules. The pantone deluxe room features the same elements, but with a vintage cast iron bathtub.
There are 8 mono rooms which are inspired by paper; they feature origami and pop art decoration. The Mono Deluxe has a glass encased bath tub. There are 9 lofted Whimsical rooms. The rooms are designed and decorated according the following themes: Bling , ASCII, Space, Tree and Typewriter. The staff at the hotel is very friendly and accommodating–helping you feel “at home” in this funky little hotel.
There is a restaurant on site at the Wanderlust– Cocotte. The cuisine at Cocotte can be described as “rustic French.” In order to foster greater social interaction and friendships, the restaurant provides communal seating. Cocotte serves portions that are perfect for sharing and work well with its communal dining set up. Lunch and dinner are served daily (except for Tuesday, when the restaurant is closed), and there is also a pastry counter for a light breakfast. There is a buffet breakfast (which is fabulous!) included in your room charge.
On the second floor of the Wanderlust, you will find a great little patio and jacuzzi pool (decked out in rainbow tiles!). If you love to bask in the sun, check out the patio during midday. If you prefer to relax and enjoy some tranquility, visit during the morning or evening hours.
There is a lot of nightlife in the Little India neighborhood of Singapore, so the location of the Wanderlust Hotel is perfect for those that want to see what fun mischief this culturally rich and lively city has to offer at night. There are a lot of comfy little coffee shops and boutiques for shopping within walking distance of the hotel as well.
