Gypset travel is full of discovery and experience, and one of my favorite experiences is discovering and attending the festivals that continue to pop up all over the world, like the two year old Festival No. 6. Much like the other UK festival Bestival, Festival No. 6 is a perfect blend of eclectic bands and taking in the beautiful surroundings. However, Festival No. 6 is more than “just” a music festival. It’s a collaboration of unique and authentic performances all set amongst the totally “gypset” destination know as Portmeirion. Gypsetgirl previously wrote about this magical misplaced Italian village located in North Wales. You can find that post here.
Whether you are at the festival to have laughs at the comedy show or listen to your favorite musician, you are sure to escape reality, even if only for a little while. Embrace the quirkiness that is Festival No.6.
Like I mentioned before, good music isn’t the only reason people flock to this festival year after year. The fairytale village of Portmeirion “comes alive” with spiritual readings, film screenings, comedy shows, art classes, storytelling and more. The choice is yours on how you spend your time here. Stroll through the woods admiring the art trails that are set up or take in an intimate reading on the terrace.
Your accommodations are as individual as you are. Choose to rent a tipi, rent a boutique tent, sleep in a castle or stay in one of the village cottages. Even the choice of tents to choose from are so very unique here at Festival No. 6. There are 2 options of tents; the Bell Tent & the Lotus Bell Tent. Each Bell Tent includes the following:
- Inflatable Mattress
- Magical lighting including, tea light chandeliers and tea light candles supplying both light and warmth
- Low level hand painted tables
- Hanging vanity mirror
- Cosy Indian rugs
- Jute doormat
If you desire the charm of a Bell Tent, but with more space, you can rent a Lotus Bell Tent. Each one includes the following:
- Inflatable Mattress with 4 inch memory foam topper
- Duvet, pillows, cushions and bedspreads, hand applied with beautiful illustrated designs
- Magical lighting, one of which is portable
- Fully carpeted with shag pile carpet for extra warmth
- A table with 2 chairs
- A welly box for storing personal items
- Handmade velvet eye mask for each guest
- Mineral water and baby wipes
Staying & playing at this festival is an experience like no other. With only 2 years under their belt, Festival No. 6 was nominated in 4 different categories in UK Festival Awards. The date is already set for 2014 (September 4-7). Each year brings new acts and many memories to those who attend. I hope to see you there!
