When I first arrived in Courchevel; I took my typical walk around the town, as I always do when in a new destination. With each turn that I made through this charming mountain town, I began to understand its draw for those who like to exercise their wallets as well as their legs at this gorgeous ski resort. This was clearly evident from the eye candy in every store front window of the quaint buildings (decorated with high-end fashion names).
As much as I can appreciate fine labels like Prada and Chanel (both of which are here in Courchevel), they aren’t clothes I covet. I gravitate more towards the edgier lesser known designers, especially when in a foreign country. When I find a store or a brand that you can’t typically find in the United States, it makes me feel like I am discovering a treasure. I found myself feeling this way as I made my way into the stylish little boutique ANARCHIC.
Even though there were plenty of chic, hip and cutting edge styles that only the French and Italians can originate, the prices were reasonable. Considering the posh resort atmosphere that exists here, I was really surprised. There is really nothing pretentious about this place either. I strolled in and immediately knew I wanted to take a couple of things home with me; but as I blogged earlier, my pocketbook was stolen at the Geneva airport! I didn’t even have two euro to rub together. Marcela, the shopkeeper, was so kind and understanding and happily put aside the items I wanted until my replacement American Express card arrived three days later. Viva la France! 😉
Although much of the ANARCHIC merchandise is difficult to find in the United States, I did manage to find a few brands that you can shop here stateside! I love the Autumn Cashmere they had on their shelves, the form-fitting and very flattering Robin’s Jean, as well as a gorgeous leather and wool knitted IRO sweater. Check out these great labels!
