Leave it to the Italians to create an uber-lux ski collection in keeping with winter gypset style!
When I arrived in Aspen I hadn’t skied in about 3 years, so I knew I needed some new ski clothes. As much as I love the Gorsuch catalogue and visiting their store in Aspen for my downhill winter gear, I was so excited to step into Performance Ski (408 s. Hunter St) and discover that the owner Lee Keating had cooperated with the legendary ski line Authier to create a line of ski wear exclusively for her store in Aspen!
Authier [O-T-A] was founded 100 years ago in Switzerland, where they manufactured high quality wooden skis. Authier’s skis began to represent luxury, quality, and superior performance. In 1990 the fascination with Authier skis caught the attention of Italian ski enthusiast Gustavo Sangorini, and he founded a company that brought the charm of Authier’s craftsmanship to an original Italian clothing line inspired by the golden years of the fifties, when fashion first began to make an appearance on the slopes.
From its inception in the early 90s to 2009, Authier’s collections continued to be inspired by the glamorous fashion of the 50s combined with the cutting edge technology expected in today’s market. The current contemporary collection, designed in Aspen and manufactured in Italy, is a collaboration between Sangorini and Keating; and it puts an American twist on the European line. Authier’s new collection is an amazing transition from classic luxury to a new age of ultra-chic sportswear embraced by all generations. Below is a sample of the Authier pieces I purchased for my days on the slopes. A fantastic insulated cashmere flannel shirt embellished with a crystal brooch on each collar. Along with a belted water proof skull and crossbones pair of ski pants.
I love your snow gear! I can’t wait to get out on the slopes!
These Authier pieces are to ski for! I haven’t skied in 5 years, since a nasty broken wrist serious fall, but these luxurious pieces would get me back on the slopes. Thanks for sharing…
Love that shirt! I’ve never been skiing but it looks like a lot of fun, especially if I get to buy cute clothes. 🙂
Yeah, but what happened to the Authier skis? Remember the wooden-look Vampyre? Very cool. If you like fantastic Swiss skis, the brand to get is RTC from Brig. They are the best carving skis on the planet and handmade completely in Switzerland.
