I’ve really been feeling Morocco for the past six months, and I am looking forward to my travels leading me there some time soon. So when I discovered Pamela Love’s Moroccan inspired pieces, I wanted to share the love and inspiration I have been feeling from this mystical part of North Africa.
Pamela Love is a jewelry designer who works in Manhattan’s garment district with a full production facility and design studio. Pamela started here career in jewelry design and construction by making these stunning gypset style pieces from her Brooklyn apartment in 2006.
Pamela’s collection is influenced by astronomy, astrology, alchemy, botany, the American Southwest, and the architecture in New York City. Her pieces incorporate traditional tribal artisan patterns from North Africa, Mexican folk art, and medieval European iconography.
The materials used in her line are guaranteed to be sustainable and localized. The gemstones and semiprecious stones, and they are ethically sourced and made from recycled metals. The entire jewelry-making process is done from Pamela’s Manhattan studio.
Her spring collection was inspired by her love for Morocco, and it includes larger pieces with more intricate patterns and semiprecious stones like malachite and red jasper. Triangular shapes, such as her triple pyramid rings, are a reflection of her traditional zellij tile work. An elliptical series, crafted into necklaces like double-bib breastplates, was inspired by the Berber tribes.
One of my personal favorites is the Cutout Ring below.
