Gypset Travel ~ The Scrubba Wash Bag

Let’s face it, sometimes you find your wanderlust taking you to more remote locations where you might not have access to laundry facilities. And although it’s not a bad price to pay to live out of your suitcase to see the world in not so clean clothes, it’s really nice when you have the opportunity to put fresh clothes on. Now there’s a solution: The Scrubba Wash Bag. The Scrubba will help keep your clothes clean without the need for a washing machine! The Scrubba Wash bag was invented by gypsetter Ash Newland, before he embarked on a four month trip to Africa to hike Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Obviously there are no laundromats on Mt. Kilimanjaro or in the surrounding area, so Newland started pondering a way to keep clothes clean without the use of a machine. The old washboard was the inspiration for his invention. After several prototypes, he found a system that worked. The invention was immediately put to the test on their excursion, and it worked perfectly!  It officially launched in June 2012 following an amazing crowd-funding campaign and $22,525 worth of pre-orders. The Scrubba has continued to grow in popularity, and it has been used by everyone from dorm students to cruise passengers.

So how does the Scrubba work? The Scrubba Wash Bag contains a flexible internal washboard. There are only six simple steps to using the bag (taken from their website): fill, roll and clip, deflate, rub, rinse, and dry. How easy is that? Now you can keep your clothes clean no matter where you are!

Another thing that I love about the company behind Scrubba (Calibre8) is that they are dedicated to giving back. The Scrubba has contributed to worthy causes like World Vision’s Emergency and Preparedness Fund and Charity: Water. They are dedicated to providing clean water for those in need. Purchasing a Scrubba is a win-win!
