I LOVED visiting La Pause when I was in Marrakech–it seems very Lawrence of Arabia (without the sand storms ;)), since it’s located in the Agafay hills about 30km from Marrakech. It is the ideal bohemian outpost. The mix of decadent wellbeing and unplugged luxury results in a very eco-sexy vibe. If you are looking for a place to “disappear” from life, without an 11 hour drive to the dunes, you HAVE to visit La Pause.
Parisian Hotelier Frédéric Alaime set up La Pause after discovering an abandoned building while riding on horseback through the desert. From his vision, he created La Pause, which has five large lodges that are set apart from one another to ensure privacy and intimacy. You will have all of the luxury amenities you need including hot water, a fireplace, and Egyptian cotton linens, while you enjoy the sounds of nature and the serenity of being in the desert.
La Pause does NOT have electricity (so no wi-fi!), in order to ensure that its guests can completely unplug from the craziness of life. Although there is no electricity, you will enjoy a modern decor complete with lanterns and candles to make your stay warm and inviting.
I love that you can enjoy dinner under a Berber tent complete with couches, chairs and tables–how cool?! There are a ton of outdoor activities to enjoy when you visit La Pause, including horseback riding, quad riding, mountain biking, camel riding, donkey racing, and much more. You can also enjoy live music and other classes and workshops during your stay.
Rates for full board are 150€ per person (excluding drinks) and include three meals a day–definitely choose this option, since you won’t find yourself leaving the area much! You can also choose to visit just for the day and enjoy any of the following meals under a nomadic tent: VIP lunch (including 1/2 bottle of Moroccan wine and all soft drinks) – 60€ per person VIP dinner (including 1/2 bottle of Moroccan wine and all soft drinks) – 80€ per person or an aperitif at sunset (1/3 bottle of Moroccan wine, sodas, water and canapés) – 15€ per person.
