El Salvador has two seasons, and both are conducive to surfing. The rainy season lasts from May-October. During this time, surfers see the largest and most consistent swells, with the average wave height between 8′ and 12′. The dry season is from November-April. During the dry season, off-shore winds are perfect for consistent mid-high surf. The year-round water temperature of 80-85 degrees is ideal for surfing.

Surrounded by mountains, El Tunco and El Sunzal provide amazing scenery for surfers, sunbathers and spectators. The area is known for its spectacular sunrises. If you opt to surf, boards are easy and affordable to rent. Most boards are available for under $10/day. Surf lessons are also very affordable. You can choose a private or group lesson for under $20.

    Beautiful! Your pictures always make me want to go on vacation! I’m not a surfer but I enjoy slowly snorkeling and looking at sea creatures.
