What can I say? Being in the Sahara Desert is a mind altering experience. It’s so seductive in its Lawrence of Arabia way (more to come on my time in the desert at La Pause soon :)). After being out in the hot sun and dry heat for a few days, it was an amazing treat to come and spend some time in the lap-of-luxury at the new Royal Palm Marrakech just outside of the Red City.
If you want to experience a little slice of heaven, you MUST visit this six star resort– a part of the Beachcomber Resort collection. The Beachcomber has beautiful properties, with a tranquil vibe, located in gypset enclaves like Mauritius, the Seychelles and Marrakech (one of the original bohemian out-posts).
I fell in love with Marrakech as a small child, sifting through the many photos of my great grand parents life living there as ex-patriots after WWII. Their photos showcased this vibrant and exotic city from every angle. From the photos of the mosques and palaces to the ones of Bob Hope on a U.S.O. tour and another of a gruesome decapitated head held by the hair in the hand of its rival, I was mesmerized!
The city was, and always has been, hypnotic to me. A kaleidoscope of color drapes Marrakech at every turn. I knew from the first moment I experienced it that I’d be back again and again. In a strange way, I felt like I had come home.
Experiencing all of the sights, sounds, and tastes that are part of the colorful tapestry that is Marrakech is a vital part of getting the most out of your journey here. But, I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t tell you all about how wonderful it was to take a luxurious break at the Royal Palm in the outskirts of the medina.
The Royal Palm is a six-star hotel that has 134 gorgeous suites and villas. You will find this luxury resort just fifteen minutes from Marrakech, at the foot of the Atlas mountains. Upon arrival at the resort you are escorted into the fabulous and stunning lobby decorated by French interior designers, fusing a mix of traditional Moroccan decor with hip Parisian flair (I’m personally love the “Hug” seat by French furniture designer Ste Perroin).
The staff couldn’t be sweeter or more efficient in making sure all our questions were answered and every potential need was attended to. We arrived a bit early and my room wasn’t quite ready, so we were taken to enjoy a drink in the airy open bar adjacent to the pool.
If you choose to stay in a villa, you will rest among the olive trees (there are orange groves and beautiful lavender as well) and enjoy your own private swimming pool, hammam (Turkish bath), and garden. The suites and villas offer a ton of amenities. If you choose a villa, you will have your own private kitchen and housekeeping! I had the opportunity to tour the presidential suite. Check out the photos below! 🙂
For lodging at the Royal Palm, you can choose from the following: junior suite, palm suite, senior suite, garden suite, luxury suite, penthouse suite, presidential suites, or prince villas. All of the suites and villas feature decor that is a beautiful mix of contemporary and traditional Moroccan craftsmanship, along with high ceilings a square footage to spare you won’t want to return to your bedroom at home! For information on reservations and rates, click HERE.
The resort has its own 18-hole golf course (suites have views of the golf course) and a 2,000 square meter heated, ozonized pool. There is also a sports center on site and a fun kids club area if you are traveling with little ones. There is a GORGEOUS spa, a collaboration with beauty line CLARINS, that you will see in a post later this week about my fantastic hammam experience there. I will also be sharing more about the unbelievable gastronomy you will find at the resort’s three restaurants. It was amazing and we couldn’t get enough (I had the best piece of fish I’ve ever eaten there).
After my stay at the Royal Palm Marrakech, I felt relaxed and rejuvenated. It truly is a resort not to be missed!
So glad you enjoyed my city! These pictures are stunning!!!
Thanks Coco-Morocco! I adored your city and can’t wait to return in October!! 🙂
